NSW Health granted the contract to administer vaccines about three weeks ago to AMI Expeditionary Healthcare – an international provider of health solutions that operates throughout the USA – with all vaccines supplied by the local health district.
AMI project manager Wayne Smith said his group had also been able to employ some former Bankstown Sports Club staff in non-clinical roles but they needed more people to walk through the door, roll up their sleeves and get their lifesaving jab.
“We have the AstraZeneca vaccine which is very safe and highly effective, with 90 per cent protection against Covid-19 after you’ve had your second shot,” he said.
“From our records we can see that many people are due for their second shot but there seems to be some hesitancy yet there is no reason for it. We have interpreters on site to answer any concerns.
“Come to the club, you don’t need an appointment and you’ll get straight in; there are no queues.”
Bankstown Sports vaccine hub’s ideal with no queues
UP to 1,000 vaccinations can be administered every day at Bankstown Sports Club but after peaking at 500 several weeks ago, numbers of those keen to protect themselves against the deadly Covid-19 virus have dwindled to about 60 a day.
