BCNA President Nicole Oram said that with the Public Health Order for Greater Sydney in place until August 28, it remains unknown what this will mean for community sport.
The Executive held off making a decision for as long as possible in the hope of getting everyone back on the park for a few more games, but it was decided that abandoning the season with less than half the rounds played was the “fairest outcome”.
BCNA has a few other opportunities in the pipeline, though, such as a Summer competition, umpires camp and coach courses in the off season.
“But, of course, nothing can be organised until we have some direction from the NSW Government on the restrictions that will surround community sport,” Oram said.
BCNA will not be providing refunds for the Winter 2021 season due to the number of games played but all returning players to the Winter 2022 season, will receive a discount with the association not taking its component of the fees.
Abandon winter netball season
ABOUT 1,600 players, coaches and umpires will have to wait until Summer before getting back on court after the Bankstown City Netball Association Executive (BCNA) abandoned the Winter 2021 season.
