It took the precautionary step after four staff returned positive Covid-19 tests between July 27-31. The closure will allow for additional detailed deep cleaning, while awaiting test results of other staff.
A spokesperson said nearby Woolworths stores in Punchbowl, Roselands and Revesby remain open for the local community and direct to boot services are also offered out of Roselands, Revesby and Chullora.
To ensure its vulnerable customers have access to delivery services, Woolworths will provide a Priority Assistance service to eligible customers including seniors, people with a disability, those with auto-immune diseases and those in mandatory self-isolation priority.
Woolworths will continue to pay all team members for their rostered shifts while the Bankstown store is closed.
Woolworths General Manager for NSW, Michael Mackenzie said the closure will be frustrating for many in the community, but the safety of our team members and customers always comes first.
“We thank our customers for their understanding,” he said.
