Firefighters responded within minutes and quickly extinguished the blaze at the Woodville Road complex, preventing it from spreading.
While there were no injuries, another car was damaged in the fire as well as water, sewer and electricity lines.
Arrest trio impersonating officer
AN 18-year-old man arrested at a home in Granville last Tuesday night, was the third person to be charged with allegedly impersonating police.
Police have been investigating two separate incidents in Bidwill and Mt Druitt in the early hours of Thursday, May 20, when the occupants of a silver-coloured Holden Commodore allegedly activated blue and red flashing lights pulling over two drivers. A 20-year-old woman and a short time later, a 31-year-old man, both drove away when they realised the occupants were not police officers and reported the incidents to Mt Druitt Police.
Following inquiries, two boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer. The older boy has also been charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed manner dangerous, and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended. The 18-year-old was also charged with impersonating a police officer.
Pedestrian collision witness hunt
A 79-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after a pedestrian was fatally injured last Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Torrens Street and Sherwood Road, Merrylands West, about 2pm, following reports of a collision between a Toyota Yaris and a 68-year-old male pedestrian.
Paramedics treated the pedestrian at the scene before taking him to hospital where he later died.
The 79-year-old driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
