HE doesn’t live in the area anymore but Brian Hughes goes out of his way to pick up a copy of the Torch every week. Working in menswear since 1961 and opening his own Hughes Menswear business in Yagoona in 1977 before relocating to Bass Hill Plaza about 20 years ago, Brian says Torch is a very ‘personal’ paper with news and information about local products, people and services that you don’t get anywhere else.
“I love looking at the cricket and of course, The Good and The Bad,” he said.
“Advertising in Torch has definitely helped my business over the years and we completed a huge renovation last year.
“I know a lot of people who read the Torch but they don’t read anything else.”
Brian says he has also gotten to know the family over the years.
“I count John and Carolyn Engisch as friends and I know the boys too of course,” he said.
“Congratulations to all the family and staff on achieving such an amazing 100-year milestone.”
