Developer Urbnsurf promises the park would become a compelling and iconic destination for surfers and non-surfers.
The surf park will replace a car park and includes alfresco dining decks, cafes, beach cabanas, skate ramps, lagoon-side pools, a kids playground and much more.
“It will provide an authentic alternative to ocean-based surfing,” a spokesperson said, with the potential to attract some of the world’s best surfers for training and competitions.
Work is expected to start later this year with the park opening mid 2022.
It has been developed for beginners and the elite, featuring a high performance centre as well as a “safe space for beginners”.
“It has been designed to use the latest version of the world’s leading wave generating technology, Wavegarden, and will deliver high quality, authentic surfing waves to suit all abilities,” a spokesperson said.
With a north-south lagoon orientation, it has been designed to suit prevailing wind conditions, LED lagoon lighting means you can surf night and day, and the park will also feature sustainable design elements, renewable energy and water saving systems.
