The project has identified the car park at the front of the Greenacre Area Community Centre as a litter hotspot due to high traffic levels.
One resident attending the stall said: “I love walking in Greenacre, but it makes me sad looking at all the litter that’s around.”
Plans include the installation of a litter bin, litter prevention signage, community clean ups of the car park, workshops to promote recycling and caring for the environment as well as introducing a Keep Greenacre Clean and Green Pledge for the community to sign at the centre or by attending one of the project’s events.
A free Family Clean Up and Movie Night is on offer on Thursday, April 8, 4-7.30pm, where families can help clean the carpark and surrounding area and then get to enjoy family movie ‘The Lorax’ based on the Dr Seuss book about a character who ‘speaks for the trees’, ahead of a delicious family dinner.
Bookings essential by Monday, April 5.
A recycling workshop will be held at the centre on April 23 and another pop-up stall is on offer in May.
All are welcome; if interested in finding out more or booking attendance, call Renee on 9750 7982 or visit Greenacre Area Community Centre at 87 Waterloo Road.
