Stops in middle of road and ‘threatens, punches’ officer

A MAN from South Granville faces more than 20 charges after an off-duty police officer was allegedly assaulted during a road-rage incident.

The officer was driving along Fairford Road, Padstow, on Sunday, February 7, about 6.45pm, when he saw a silver Toyota Hilux allegedly being driven erratically.
The officer followed it onto Davies Road, before it swerved and stopped in the middle of the road, where the driver exited the vehicle, approached the officer who was seated in his vehicle and allegedly verbally abused him.
When the officer identified himself, he was allegedly punched in the face and threatened with a knife.
A member of the public stopped to assist the officer – who is attached to a command in the Central Metropolitan Region – before the driver fled.
Early the following day, police arrested a 27-year-old man at a home on Mona Street, South Granville.
He was charged with being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, possess ammunition, malicious damage, assault police in the execution of duty, possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safe, acquire firearm part without authority, possess a barrel without authority of licence/permit, possess or use prohibited weapon without permit, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and supply prohibited drug.
His charges include being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, possessing ammunition, malicious damage, assault police in the execution of duty, possess unauthorised pistol, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and supply and posses a prohibited drug.

A 63-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested at a house in Australia Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park, and charged with nearly 80 counts of fraud while employed at an aged-care facility at Strathfield.
The woman was charged after allegedly committing nearly 80 fraudulent transactions amounting to over $650,000 while employed at an aged-care facility at Strathfield.
Last August Auburn Police began an investigation after receiving information that a number of fraudulent transactions had allegedly occurred in relation to an employee of the Margaret Street facility between 2017 and 2020.
The woman appear in court in March after being issued with a future court attendance notice for 78 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.
