Tournament organiser Kerry Dock swapped his microphone for a hose to keep the smaller kids cool with a spray in between points while older players competed across the two days of the new Universal Tennis Rating tournaments.
The winner of the junior boys was Saverio Fedele from Castle Hill; Marina Tsiklas from Gymea Bay won the junior girls; the 12 years and under boys winner was Alehandro Petreski from Bossley Park; the 12 years and under girls winner was Rozana Ajami from Sans Souci; and the under 10 girls winner was Sophia Duarte from Fairfield.
Tennis Blast now accepts two $100 Active Kids Vouchers a year, with group and private lessons underway for Term 1.
Group lessons include modern stroke and footwork, tennis specific fitness, character building and fun games.
Private lessons improve form and troubleshoot as well as boost technical, tactical and mental and physical fitness.
“Four decades of coaching tennis in Sydney has allowed us to perfect our program and help players of all abilities,” Dock said.
