A GRANVILLE man called in sick to work last Monday so he could stay home and spend the day processing the fact he’s almost $1 million richer after taking home division one in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The man held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4109, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $906,269.30.
Confirming his life-changing win with an official from The Lott, the man revealed he was still in a state of shock.
“I checked my ticket on Sunday morning and just keep checking it over and over again, I wasn’t sure if it was real,” he said.
“I didn’t want to go to sleep in case I woke up and it wasn’t real.
“Things like this don’t happen to people like me. It’s absolutely awesome.”
With almost one million dollars about to land in his bank account, his winning grin was about to get bigger and brighter.
“I know I do need to get some dental work done,” he said.
“I will keep working for now but down the track I am sure I will be able to retire a lot earlier than I’d planned.”
The life-changing ticket was purchased at Holroyd Newsagency, Guildford.
Holroyd Newsagency owner Sophie Ly said she was overwhelmed with excitement for her winner.
“This customer has been coming to us for such a long time, so we are so happy for him,” she said.
