Auburn FC wins four out of seven Grand Final cups

THE undefeated Auburn FC U14 Boys Division 1 team (pictured) romped home to grand final victory against Auburn Districts 4-0 on Saturday in the Granville District Soccer and Football Association competition.

ACHIEVING one of their best efforts since launching in 2008, Auburn FC won four out of a possible seven grand finals in the Granville District Soccer and Football Association at the weekend.Undefeated all season, the U14 Division 1 Boys team – coached by Hakan Aslan and Andy Diker for the past seven years – beat Auburn Districts 4-0; the U16 Girls beat Merrylands 4-1; the Over 45s Division 2 Mens team beat Greystanes 2-1; and the Under 12 Division 2s beat Rydalmere 1-0.
Meanwhile, the U14 Division 2 Boys lost to Auburn Districts, the All Age Men lost to Auburn Districts and the U16s youth team also lost.

Secretary Reg Agar said it was a fantastic season with many highlights.
“Our Under 16 Girls had gone down twice to Merrylands during the season so for them to score a spot in the grand final against their rivals was fantastic but then to actually win 4-1 was unbelievable,” he said.
“We are all over the moon and not just with the girls’ efforts but all of our teams and we are looking forward to coming back bigger and better next year after having a well-earned rest between now and when registrations get underway at the start of February.”
