Seize 3D-printed parts gun

POLICE allegedly seized a 3D printer and a semi-automatic pistol consisting of 3D-printed and imported parts from a home in Newtown on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old man arrested at the home has been charged with manufacturing a pistol without a licence/permit, possessing an unregistered firearm (pistol), not keeping a firearm safely (pistol) and possessing ammunition without holding a licence/permit/authority.
Shortly after the arrest, Drug and Firearms Squad detectives, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS), executed a search warrant at the home, where they also allegedly located additional 3D-printed firearm parts, ammunition, electronic devices and cannabis.
All items were seized for further forensic examination.
In November 2018, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad, established Strike Force Myosoti to investigate the movement of firearms between states and territories.
As part of ongoing investigations, police received information about the importation of firearm parts from the USA through registered post.
