Win for gifted violinist

GIFTED music students from across the state, including Hurlstone Park’s Khang Mai (pictured), 12, attended an intense, two-day, online seminar to explore 18th and 19th century orchestral repertoires along with discussions around performance psychology and career development.

With the winter academy hosted by the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra (ARCO) for the Young Mannheim Symphonists (YMS) program, expert presenters ‘zoomed’ in from Melbourne, Sydney and Thredbo.
Playing the violin for five years, Khang’s dream is to one day be a violin soloist on the concert stage.
“Thank you so much to ARCO for putting together this online academy,” he said.
“It is great to have a sense of community during this time, even if we can’t play together, and so that has been very inspiring.”
