BUSINESSES are being urged to get on board with the Seniors Card program as you’re not only doing the right thing by some very appreciative people, you’re connecting your business with up to 1.6 million of the state’s most lucrative, loyal and ready-to-spend customers.
Seniors represent three per cent of the population and 51 per cent of the wealth in Australia; they spend more in many product and service categories than any other age group.
Around 90 per cent of them in NSW proudly carry the Seniors Card or its sister card, the Seniors Savers Card, and show their appreciation with their dollars.
They use their card frequently and prefer to shop with businesses that honour it.
A Bankstown Eyecare Plus spokesperson says they offer a 10 per cent discount to seniors on designer frames and other discount packages on consultations and various stock lines.
“Most seniors are aware we are part of the Seniors Card program and will ask what the discounts cover,” she said.
“But even if they don’t, the discount is automatic at our business.”
At Georges Hall’s Aquarius Seafood, seniors will also receive at 10 per cent discount off meals.
Owner Gourav said: “We are happy to offer this discount during the week but not on weekends when our overheads are much higher.”
Bankstown real estate agent W T Newey & Co discounts sales listings by 25 per cent and property management by 10 per cent for seniors.
“It’s something I suggested about two months ago for new clients when I turned ‘senior’ as no other agency here is doing it,” sales manager Raymond Logan said. “It’s a great opportunity.”
McDonalds franchisee at Punchbowl, Lakemba, Padstow and Menai, Mina Favotto, gives all seniors a free coffee, soft drink or juice when they spend at least $4.
