Starting in the industry in 1995, Your Aged Care At Home managing director Heather Pooloo, says there has been a boom in those needing care because of our ageing population, with the first step to register at the Government’s My Aged Care website.
“Clients will then be assessed and approved to get a home-care package,” Ms Pooloo said.
“We can help clients through that process and offer full nursing care, domestic services, provide transport and respite care, social outings, meet medication needs and even offer pet therapy.
“We work with social workers, hospitals, doctors, volunteers, physios, hydrotherapists, palliative care teams, the families and charities to help keep our clients well, independent and in their homes for as long as possible.
“The system is subsidised through medicare but there is a waiting list depending on your needs.”
With client needs varying, some qualify for live-in care, visits three times daily or weekly or weekly or fortnightly support.
