Bulldogs star needs time off to recover
He suffered the injury while representing New Zealand at the weekend.
The potential recovery period is likely to be six months, although this could be longer dependent on the results of the initial surgery.
Bulldogs Chief Executive Andrew Hill said that the club was fully behind Kieran in making sure that he received the best possible support during his rehabilitation.
“The news is incredibly disappointing for both Kieran and the Bulldogs, especially as he has worked so hard to get back on to the field,” Hill said.
“The club will make sure that Kieran receives the best possible medical support during surgery and his rehabilitation and will continue to monitor his recovery and potential return date.
“Kieran is part of the Bulldogs family and we will make sure that he and his family receive everything they need during this time.”
The Bulldogs have re-signed exciting fullback and Kiwi International captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak for a further two years, keeping him at Belmore until the end of the 2022 season.
