New CEO for Parra
MARK Stapleton is the City of Parramatta's new Chief Executive Officer, taking over from Sue Coleman, the council's director of city services who has been acting in the position since January. Born in Ireland, Mr Stapleton came to Australia in 2007 and was the former director of property and significant assets.
Chicks world stars
THE hatching of two white-bellied sea-eagle chicks in the nature reserve at the Newington Armory, was streamed live online to more than 7,600 people from Australia and around the world over the weekend. Public art on offer
SIX new temporary public art installations will be on show at various venues in Sydney Olympic Park from July 31 to October 31. Parko Techni 2018 includes Lumiform's immersive light installation Ember; Khaled Sabsabi's large format projection, more than; Gary Deirmendjian's duo, drop and drape; Emma Anna's Architecture for Birds; and Eggpicnic's Here and There.
Protect frogs plan
WORK is underway to drain ponds throughout Narawang Wetland at Sydney Olympic Park as part of efforts to eliminate the threat of Gambusia to frog populations, particularly for the endangered Green and Golden Bell Frog. Gambusia feeds on native tadpoles and frog eggs.
