SIX people, including four children, suffered minor injuries after a car that was allegedly being pursued by police smashed into their vehicle last night.
About 8.30pm (Thursday, May 24), officers from Campsie Police Area Command attempted to stop a silver BMW travelling west on the M5 near Belmore Road.
The BMW failed to stop and police engaged in a short pursuit before it crashed into a Mazda CX-9 and Honda Civic on the M5 near Fairford Road.
The driver fled on foot, while his male passenger was arrested at the scene, however; later released pending further inquiries.
Six occupants of the CX-9, a man, woman and four children, were assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, but did not require hospitalisation.
Two occupants of the Honda were uninjured.
The M5 remained closed for several hours. Inquiries are continuing.
