OVER 50 nurses have have rallied outside Canterbury Hospital this afternoon to protest their displeasure with present staff to patient ratios.
NSW Nurses and Midwives Association spokesperson, Nola Scilinato said the rally was to highlight the pressures they are under as a result of understaffing, increased workloads and poor skill mix issues at Canterbury Hospital.
"The existing staffing arrangements aren't working, they can be manipulated and are not transparent," she said.
"At Canterbury Hospital, the right head count of staff may be supplied, but often it is the wrong skill mix."
NSW Nurses and Midwives Association is calling on the NSW Health Minister to improve nurse to patient ratios to safe levels.
