PRIMARY and high school students have been commemorating Australia's wartime service ahead of ANZAC Day which will occur during the April school holidays this year.
Cumberland RSL Junior vice president Ron Inglis says representatives from the club were guests at several ANZAC school assemblies last week including Al-Faisal College, and the Auburn West, Berala, and Lidcombe public schools.
"It is wonderful to see so many young people interested about this important part of Australia's history," he said.
Mr Inglis said interest in the dawn services on ANZAC Day itself also remained high.
"Everyone is welcome at the dawn services," he said.
"We have had some pretty good attendances over the past few years and there is always plenty of support for the services.
"This year's commemorations are especially significant as this is the final year of the centenary of the first World War. In November we will also mark the centenary of the armistice.
