Free fun in Youth Week

Story appeared in: Inner West Times | April 11th, 2018

THERE will be plenty of activities - many of them free - for young people to enjoy during Youth Week (April 13-22).
Across the Inner West, different youth populations and activities are catered for, drawing on the expertise of local community agencies such as Marrickville Youth Resource Centre, PCYC Marrickville, Youthblock, Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, Addison Road Community Centre, Youth Off the Streets, Barnardos, Metro Assist, Launchpad and Totem Skateboarding.
Events will include:
• 'Battlelines' a youth event for 12-18 years at Marrickville Youth Resource Centre on Wednesday, April 17, 11am, with indoor and outdoor games including billiards, table tennis, giant novelty sumo suits, a roaming police van and free barbecue;
• A skate and scooter competition will be held at the new Sydenham Green Skatepark on Tuesday, April 21, from 12-4pm for skaters aged 12-18; and
• A creative writing workshop on Friday, April 20, 10am-noon, where youth aged 12-18 can unlock their imagination and learn techniques to improve their writing with acclaimed author Walter Mason.
