POLICE believe a drive-by shooting at Greenacre on Wednesday night, was a targeted attack.
Chief Inspector Jeffrey Hohnen from Bankstown Police, said a man fired the shots into another vehicle about 8.45pm.
"An unknown male driving what we believe was a Mitsubishi Evo, drove into Napoleon Street, Greenacre, got out of the vehicle holding a firearm and fired at least three, if not four shots into another car," he said.
Inspector Hohnen said the 19-year-old man in the other car was not injured and is cooperating with police.
"Later on we found the car involved, the Mitsubishi Evom in a street not far away from there, and that vehicle had been set on fire," he said.
Inspector Hohnen said the man that fired the shots was seen getting into a Landcruiser, possibly a 70s series, before driving away from the burning Mitsubishi. He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 25 and 30, and was wearing a white shirt.
Inspector Hohnen has called on the public for assistance, particularly as there were more than 100 people, including children, playing football at nearby Roberts Park at the time of the shooting.
Inspector Hohnen said police were looking at a number of possible leads and the victim was cooperating with investigators.
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
