A MAN has been charged after an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit and run at Bankstown on Friday evening.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Eldridge Road and Northam Avenue just after 7.30pm, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
The driver then allegedly drove from the scene, failing to render assistance.
An 88-year-old man was treated by paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
Just before 1pm on Saturday, a 24-year-old Condell Park man went to Bankstown Police Station where he was arrested. He was charged with numerous driving offences, including negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, failing to stop and driving furiously. His licence was also suspended.
