GEORGES River Grammar has a new Principal.
The Independent Anglican school at Georges Hall will be opening its doors to the public on Saturday, March 24, not only to allow the public to look around its fantastic facilities, but to also introduce their new Principal, Raquel Charet.
Mrs Charet who began as the co-educational school's Principal this year, brings 24 years of teaching experience to the Georges Hall.
"I heard some wonderful things about this school," Mrs Charet said.
Georges River Grammar, with 930 students, is Mrs Charet's second principalship. With seven years experience in a leadership capacity, she has taught in schools across Sydney.
"I was attracted to this school for a number of reasons, including its excellence in HSC results.
"Our Year 12 Class of 2017 received exceptional HSC results with the highest ATAR of 99.2 achieved," Mrs Charet said.
"The school had 84 per cent of students in the top three bands."
Many students, Mrs Charet said, were listed among the all rounders, top achievers and distinguished achievers.
"We are extremely proud of the efforts of the 2017 cohort and wish them every success in their future endeavours," she said.
The new Principal has big plans for the school, with a strategic plan underway to focus on literacy and positive psychology.
"Out teachers are already training in that area," she said.
What also attracted Mrs Charet to the school, was its excellent vocational education and training (VET) courses, offered as part of the HSC.
Mrs Charet says VET enables students to study courses which are relevant to industry needs and which have clear links to post-school industry and training.
The school also offers VET courses in business services, construction pathways, hospitality (Kitchen Operations), information, digital media and technology, retail services and tourism, travel and events.
The school also offers enrichment and 'stream' programs, allowing specialised education for students who are gifted and talented, from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
The open day, to be held from from 9am to 1pm, will also feature musical and dancing performances from students. For further information, call the school on 9725 7566.
