THE NSW Seniors Festival, the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere, celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2018.
Dooleys is always excited to being part of the NSW Seniors Festival and in 2018 they invite seniors to join them at Dooleys Health + Fitness to celebrate.
There will be a number of interactive and fun activities from Monday, April 9, to Sunday, April 15. Entry is free for all Seniors Card holders giving you full general access to the gym and access to dedicated events.
One of these events is a seminar on injury prevention hosted by Julie Pham who works on the Gym floor at Dooleys Health + Fitness.
Julie is in her final year of an Exercise Physiology degree and with her special interest in healthy ageing, she is excited to share the many benefits of regular physical activity as we age.
"Exercise is akin to medicine" is a statement that Julie believes to be true and valid. When performed in the optimal intensity and at the right amount, exercise can help increase capacity to complete daily activities, regain energy levels as well as reduce the need to rest.
This coming Seniors' Week, Julie will be presenting on what you can do and how you can participate in physical activity.
Events include: Seniors Strength on Monday, April 9, from 11.15am; Fit & Well on Tuesday, April 10, from 11.15am; Senior Circuit on Wednesday, April 11, from 11.15am; Zumba Gold on Thursday, April 12, from 11.15am, followed by the Annual Seniors Week Luncheon in the group exercise studio from 12.30pm and seminar Exercise for Injury Prevention from 1.15pm; and Seniors Cardio on Friday, April 13, from 11.15am.
