A FIRE has forced the evacuation of six people from a residence above a Padstow shop during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Three NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Bankstown, Revesby and Riverwood, were called to the Cahors Road blaze about 4.45am, to find smoke billowing from the two-storey building (pictured).
Four adults and two children were evacuated safely from the residential apartment above the shop, before the fire was brought under control at 5.30am.
NSW Ambulance paramedics checked the six people evacuated from the residence, who did not require further treatment.
The building suffered extensive smoke and heat damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
