A BOY remains in a critical condition after falling from the window of a unit in Bankstown on Monday night.
About 7.20pm, the seven-year-old fell from a window of a third-floor unit on Chapel Road.
He was rushed to Bankstown Hospital by family members, before being conveyed to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, suffering critical head injuries.
Detectives from Bankstown are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The fall comes on the eve of the introduction of new laws for strata buildings, to prevent children falling from windows.
Windows must be fitted with devices that enable the maximum window openings to be less than 12.5cm. Owners corporations must have devices installed on all common property windows above the ground floor by March 13, 2018.
Two young siblings were injured after plunging 10m from the third floor of an apartment block on South Terrace, Bankstown in February last year.
