Splash out at pool party

DIVING into a whole lot of fun this Australia Day, Friday, January 26, the City of Canterbury Bankstown is hosting two fabulous pool parties at Canterbury and Max Parker Revesby Leisure and Aquatic Centres.
And in the spirit of giving back to those disadvantaged in the local community, the council will donate all profits raised on Australia Day to charity.
Every $1 pool entry fee will be donated to Father Chris Riley's Youth off the Streets (YOTS).
Mayor Khal Asfour said it was the Australian way to help others.
"According to Youth off the Streets, there are around 44,000 young people facing homelessness, neglect, abuse and disadvantage, so if our community can help in any way, then that's what we'll do," Mayor Asfour said.
Those who visit the Leisure and Aquatic Centres on January 26, will be transported to the shores of Miami and Ibiza, with Bondi Beach Radio DJs on deck with the latest dance tracks.
DJ Sol, who has her own show, The Young Ones, on Bondi Beach Radio, said she was looking forward to partying in Canterbury-Bankstown.
"I've never partied down this way before on Australia Day, so I can't wait to meet some of the fans out here and meet other DJs, who have been signed on for the day," she said.
"I've already started mixing a few original and exclusive tropical, house tracks for the day."
DJ Sol will be joined by DJ Dante Rivera, DJ Jansen, DJ Caraz, DJ Tina Haremis, DJ Xan Muller, and DJ Boston Rodriguez on the day.
Mayor Asfour said: "We're going all out this year and bringing the party to you, with a complete summer vibe.
"Having Bondi Beach Radio DJs at our events, is just the tip of the iceberg. We're planning to convert Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre into a full blown party, complete with astroturf around the pool, deck chairs, beach umbrellas, bean bags, café seating and beach balls.
"We'll also have a special kids' area with miniature colourful furniture for their enjoyment too."
If you're not pulling up a seat or tanning by the pool, there will also be a carnival of rides, as well as a jumping castle, at Canterbury too.
Those who visit Max Parker, can also jump on the giant inflatable obstacle course.
The pool parties will be held from 10am-4pm. For more info, go to cb.city/poolparty
Preceding the Australia Day events will be the council's official Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony, to be held at the Bryan Brown Theatre.
