Motorists are reminded of changed traffic conditions from early January on the Hume Highway for essential maintenance work to be carried out between Highlands Avenue at Yagoona and Stacey Street at Bankstown.
Work involves removing and replacing asphalt, building pavement and kerb and guttering as well as repainting road markings to provide a safer road for motorists and reduce future ongoing maintenance.
Work was scheduled to be complete by Friday, December 22, but due to an increase in the scope, work will continue to be carried out in the New Year.
To minimise the impact to motorists, another 40 shifts of work will be carried out between Sunday, January 7 and Friday, March 2, 2018 between 9pm and 5am, excluding Saturdays and weather permitting.
Traffic control and lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control. Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
