Motorists and the community are reminded essential maintenance work is continuing be carried out on Parramatta Road between Duck and Harbord streets at Auburn.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the work is being delivered as part of the NSW Government's $1.5 billion maintenance program which helps maintain and improve roads across the state.
"Essential maintenance work is being carried out on this busy stretch of road to improve safety for motorists and reduce ongoing future maintenance requirements," the spokesperson said.
"The bridge structure on Parramatta Road is being repaired and upgraded with the first stage of work now complete.
"Crews are now working hard to install ventilation drainage grates and an underground utility vault on the northern side of the bridge, build a new concrete footpath and repair concrete under the bridge."
The spokesperson said work will be carried out until Thursday, March 29, 2018, weather permitting.
"Crews will be onsite on weekdays from 7am to 6pm with some night work scheduled to be carried out from 9pm to 5am, excluding Saturdays," the spokesperson said.
"Work is expected to take around 40 day shifts and 40 night shifts to complete and may be noisy at times but all measures will be taken to minimise impact to residents.
"Work will not be carried out during the Christmas/New Year holidays from Sunday, December 24, 2017 to Friday, January 5, 2018 inclusive.
"Commuters are advised access to bus stops in the work zone may be affected but traffic controllers will direct bus customers to temporary stopping points nearby."
Traffic control and lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
