DETECTIVES searched the Lidcombe home of developer and former Auburn's deputy mayor Salim Mehajer on Wednesday morning in what a NSW Police spokesperson described as a "planned operation".
"The search warrant relates to an ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time," she said.
Last month Mr Mehajer was involved in a car accident on his way to a court appearance and was taken to hospital by ambulance before being discharged.
A medical certificate was produced in court and the case, which involved the alleged assault of a taxi driver outside the Star Casino earlier in the year, was adjourned until January with the consent of police. Mr Mehajer has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
