Jo McGrath and Jack Rogers kick start the annual Ben McGrath Chiropractic's 'Christmas Toy Drive’, which donates gifts to sick children forced to spend the festive season in hospital.
AS the festive season approaches, various giving trees and gift drives are gearing up for those in need within the community.
One such initiative is Ben McGrath Chiropractic's 'Christmas Toy Drive', which for the past four years, assisted by the surrounding community, have donated gifts to sick children forced to spend the festive season in hospital.
Ben McGrath Chiropractic manager, Jo McGrath said the idea came about when her daughter, who was eight at the time, asked if the family's Christmas tree, which was being replaced, could be taken to the clinic.
"She wanted to see if our clients would donate presents to children who may not be as lucky as her," Jo said.
Since then, the Panania clinic has donated hundreds of gifts to hospitals in Bankstown and Liverpool over the past four years.
"This idea has grown from strength to strength each year," Jo said.
"We are excited to make this year even bigger."
Jo is asking for people to drop in toys or gifts under the tree, which in turn will again be donated to Bankstown and Liverpool hospitals.
"We have seen the smiles and the complete joy from children and their siblings who are spending the Christmas period in hospital when we have had the privilege to give them a gift," Jo said.
"To see such a smile from a small gesture, makes us want to make this bigger and better every year, so we can bring joy to more children and their families. "
Gifts can be left under the tree at Ben McGrath Chiropractic, 52 Anderson Avenue, Panania.
