GARAGE Sale Trail, Australia's biggest sustainability and community event, has just crowned Marrickville West Public School 'Australia's King of all Garage Sales'.
This year's Garage Sale Trail, held over the weekend of October 21 and 22, saw around 400,000 Australians participating in communities across the nation.
There were a record breaking 16,000 garage sales and stalls taking place over the weekend, with 2.4 million items, with a value of $15.4 million, set free from cupboards, garages and sheds across the country.
In the Inner West alone there were over 400 garage sales happening over the weekend long reuse event and an estimated 44,831 pre-loved items up for sale, making the area second only to Brisbane in terms of the scale and impact of the event.
"The King of All Garage Sales is a search for Australia's most popular garage sale," Garage Sale Trail Co-Founder Darryl Nichols said.
"It's about recognising truly awesome sales and the wonderful sellers behind them."
Lindy Allwis, P & C President, said: "The sale was a fantastic fundraising opportunity for the school and we raised over $1,500 via the garage sale which is amazing."
Storage King's Chat Bandaranayake presented a giant $500 cheque to Marrickville West as part of their win.
