Man, 80, missing

THERE are fears for the welfare of an elderly man who went missing from Bankstown yesterday. Michael Shiels, 80, was last seen leaving premises on Meredith Street about 1pm on Tuesday. Mr Shiels suffers a number of medical conditions that require ongoing treatment. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a solid build and white, balding hair. When last seen, Mr Shiels was wearing brown pants and a grey jumper. He walks with a walking stick.

Armed robbery
AN employee of a Bankstown service station was robbed at knifepoint this morning.
Just before 4am, three men walked into the Chapel Road South service station and threatened the employee with a knife and stole cash, before fleeing. No one was injured. Bankstown police established a crime scene that was examined by specialist forensic officers. Anyone with information that may assist police is urged to come forward.
