WORKSHOP 'Treading Lightly: Shrubs & Syrups' is on offer on Thursday, October 12, 6-8pm, at Cornersmith Picklery, 441 Illawarra Road, Marrickville. This is a hands-on class that teaches you how to make your own beverages from the herbs in your garden and the end-of-the-week fruit in the refrigerator. Students will make and take home an old fashioned shrub (vinegar preserved fruit juice), a sweet syrup and learn the art of herbal and floral infusions for teas. Nation's Gypsy history revealed
TODAY, roughly 100,000 Gypsies call Australia home, yet until now their experiences have been hidden from our history, and from our present. Author Mandy Sayer weaves together a wide-ranging and exuberant history of Gypsies in Australia, right back to convict times. Mental Health Wellbeing event on
THERE will be a Mental Health Month Wellbeing event at Ashfield Town Hall to which all are invited on Friday, October 13, 11.30am-1pm. It's being hosted by the Inner West Council, St Vincent de Paul Society, NSW's Ability Links and Compeer and will feature Zumba, live entertainment, a community art project, refreshments and information stalls plus much more.

Expand mind with Spanish class
A SPANISH language class for beginners is starting up on Friday, October 13, 6.30pm-7.30pm, at Marrickville Town Hall meeting room. Taking place on Friday evenings over eight weeks, this workshop is an introductory course suitable for adults who have no prior knowledge of the Spanish language. By the end of the course, students will be able to introduce themselves, ask someone their nationality and personal details and chat. Cost, $120. Bookings: 9335 2173.
