THE Parramatta Artists Studios (PAS) is now accepting applications from prospective artists in residence for six to 12-month studio tenancies during 2018.
With 13 studio spaces available for artists from diverse disciplines across Parramatta and Greater Sydney, the tenancy program is designed to give some of the nation's best emerging, mid-career and established artists opportunities for collaboration, networking and professional development in a globally-renowned communal arts environment.
"Parramatta Artists Studios has been fundamental in establishing a strong arts culture in Parramatta and demonstrating the diverse and world class artistic talent our region has to offer," City of Parramatta Administrator Amanda Chadwick said.
"In 2018, we hope to bring in a dynamic group of artists who will contribute to the City's thriving cultural sector and continue the Studios' tradition of executing exceptional artistic practice right in the heart of Parramatta."
Successful artists will become a part of the City's wider arts and culture network which includes key organisations such as Riverside Theatres, FORM Dance Projects, Information & Cultural Exchange, and the National Theatre of Parramatta.
Current resident artist Kate Beckingham says that opportunities for collaboration have been among the most rewarding experiences for her as an artist at PAS.
"Being able to connect with other artists and cultural organisations has allowed me to play a significant role in shaping the cultural identity of the community and meaningfully contribute to the arts sector. I encourage anyone who is looking to build on their craft to apply for a residency in 2018," Ms Beckingham said.
Applications for the 2018 tenancies are currently open and close on September 18.
