A LOADED semi-automatic handgun (pictured) and ammunition were allegedly found during the search of a home in Merrylands last Wednesday morning.
Strike Force Kelmscott was established by detectives from the State Crime Command's Firearms Squad to investigate the illegal supply and possession of firearms throughout the Sydney metropolitan area.
As part of their inquiries, strike force investigators, with the assistance of Australian Border Force officers and police attached to North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, executed the Merrylands search warrant.
Officers allegedly located a loaded 9mm semi-automatic Beretta handgun, loaded magazines, and ammunition of various calibres.
They spoke to a 69-year-old woman at the home with the assistance of an interpreter, but no arrests have been made.
Investigations are continuing.
