Million Paws fight cruelty

THERE is still time to join the 23rd annual Million Paws Walk through Cathy Freeman Park at Sydney Olympic Park this Saturday, May 20.
Helping raise funds for the RSPCA's animal shelters and work on animal welfare issues, the charity also issued new 'fitness and fundraising' challenge this year by inviting pet owners to walk "one million paws", or 250,000 steps before the big day while getting their family and friends to sponsor them.
The equivalent of walking just over 8,000 steps a day, or around two 30 minute walks with your furry best friend, RSPCA NSW CEO Steve Coleman says the Million Paws Challenge is a fun way to spend quality time with your dog while raising money to save the lives of other animals.
He said 98 per cent of the charity's funding came from the generosity of the community.
"You literally power our ability to save lives from abuse; house those experiencing hardship or fleeing domestic violence; and give shelter, love and hope to those abandoned and neglected."
