PLANS for future uses of Wyatt Park will be drawn up following the appointment of external consultants to develop a Plan of Management and Landscape Concept Plan for the area.
Cumberland Council administrator Viv May described the Park's existing structure and established landscape as providing "strong bones to build on" and says consultants Spackman, Mossop and Michaels will be talking with all stakeholders, whether they use the facilities or are recreation providers themselves.
"We believe the key to achieving this vision lies in developing a clear, creative plan that builds on the existing recreation, heritage and landscape values of the site," he said.
"This way the council can deliver a revitalised parkland that delivers open space and recreation that the community can get excited about, now and into the future."
Wyatt Park is home to the Auburn Youth Centre, Lidcombe Oval, Cumberland Basketball Centre, PCYC and the newly opened Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre.
Cumberland Basketball Centre general manager Dawn Bourke said they were fully behind Cumberland Council's development of a cohesive plan for the Park.
"Because of its central location, Wyatt Park is a prime area to showcase the modern approach by Cumberland Council to upgrade and rejuvenate the area," she said.
