Over 18,000 families to be worse off

JUST over 18,000 families in his electorate will be worse off under a Federal Government freeze to Family Tax Benefit A (FTB) payments, according to Federal MP for Blaxland, Jason Clare.
"Cuts to family payments start on July 1 this year - the same day the Turnbull Government will abolish the deficit levy, giving a tax cut to millionaires," he said.
"This proves how out of touch Malcolm Turnbull is.
"He just doesn't get it."
Mr Clare said all Family Tax Benefit A recipients had household incomes less than $52,000 a year and will mean a single income family on $60,000 with two primary school age children will be around $440 worse off over the two years.
However neighbouring Federal MP for Reid Craig Laundy said the measure aims to "prioritise a reinvestment in child care services and achieve long term sustainability of the family payment system".
"The measures introduced maintain the current Family Tax Benefit payment rates for a modest period of two years."
