Principal of Strathfield Girls High School since last year and Cumberland High School prior to that, she was also Deputy Principal at Chester Hill and Leumeah high schools.
The Secondary College of Languages supervisor has also devoted hours to the Helmsman Project, a not-for-profit organisation that helps young people develop important life skills so they can overcome setbacks and develop the confidence to pursue their dreams.
Ms Pikoulas says when she was contacted about the win, it came as a complete surprise.
“I have no idea who nominated me for the OAM; I just love what I do and don’t do it for any recognition,” she said.
“It’s such a privilege to be principal and leading a school community, there are always exciting things happening and I am always looking for opportunities for our young people especially since post covid.
“I want to keep uplifting them and inspiring hope.”
