The Greenacre tennis, table tennis and ballroom dancing teacher has been volunteering and fundraising for over 50 charities since the 1950s.
When news came in last week that he had won an OAM, he was helping transport a group of visitors to the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway.
A Justice of the Peace since 1978, his other accolades include the Anniversary of National Service Medal, 2002, Citizen of the Year in Bankstown Council’s Australia Day Awards, 2016, Senior Volunteer of the Year, the Centre for Volunteering, 2014, Community Service Award, NSW Government, 2011, Volunteer of the Year, Bicycle NSW, 2013, and NSW Seniors Week Achievement Award, 2010.
Mr Davies, 85, says he has no plans to slow down and is very happy to receive the OAM recognition for his efforts.
“I feel very honoured and grateful,” he said.

HE has dozens of awards for volunteering but Frank Davies said winning a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the general division on the King’s Birthday Honours List for service to community was his greatest achievement yet.
