Crashed after car theft flee

A MAN allegedly wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west early Saturday morning.

About 3am, police were patrolling Stacey Street, Bankstown, when they noticed a black Mercedes travelling northbound allegedly exceeding the speed limit. Police said checks revealed the number plants were stolen and when they attempted to stop the vehicle on the Hume Highway, the driver allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated which continued through Yagoona, Chester Hill and Bass Hill.
Police terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the Mercedes was found crashed into a fence on Tower Road in the Bankstown Aerodrome. The two occupants had fled on foot.
With assistance from the Dog Unit, the driver, a 38-year-old man from Riverwood, and his passenger, a 20-year-old woman, were arrested on Tower Road, Milperra, about 3.15am
The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with exceeding speed, police pursuit-not stop-drive at speed, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive while licence cancelled, two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, use vehicle without unauthorised number plate affixed, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, not give particulars to owner of damaged property, trespass on prohibited Commonwealth land, and the outstanding warrants.
The woman was released pending further inquiries and taken to hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Inquiries are continuing.

Officer on misconduct charges
A POLICE officer has been charged after an investigation into alleged misconduct.
In February this year, investigators from the Professional Standards Command, commenced an investigation into the alleged misconduct of an officer relating to an assault in Roselands.
As part of investigations, search warrants were executed at three homes across Sydney’s south-west, with a number of items relevant to the investigation seized.
A 28-year-old man, who is a constable attached to South West Metropolitan Region, has been charged with do, act intending to pervert the course of justice, publish false misleading material to obtain advantage, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and deal with identity info to commit indictable offence.
The officer was suspended in February and his duty status is under review.
Investigations are continuing.

Unit lobby assault and robbery
POLICE are investigating an assault and attempted robbery at a Revesby apartment building earlier this month.
About 7.30pm on Sunday, June 6, a 39-year-old man walked down to the lobby of his apartment building on Marco Avenue, Revesby, after his intercom was alerted.
Police have been told the man opened the door to the lobby when he was assaulted by an unknown man, who forced him back inside and pushed him up against the wall.
The unknown man demanded money from the occupant, then stole his keys, before handing them to an unknown woman.
The pair fled on foot and were last seen heading east on Marco Avenue.
Bankstown Police are investigating and would like to speak to two people.
The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his late 30s to early 40s, of solid build, with short black hair and stubble. He was depicted as wearing a green jumper with the words ‘Silent Theory’ on the sleeves and ‘Silent’ on the front, black pants and black shoes.
The woman is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, of thin build, with long black/brown hair. She was depicted wearing a black long-sleeved jumper, black pants with two white stripes on the left lower leg, and brown shoes. She was carrying a light brown/grey bag.
