FORGET the Logies – the Canterbury Bankstown Business Awards is the night of nights for those who provide the community with goods and services for a living.
The Canterbury Bankstown Local Business Awards, now in its 26th year, is an opportunity for members of the community to recognise businesses that provide outstanding goods and services.
Customers nominate and vote for businesses in industry categories, with the winners then eligible to be chosen as the overall Business of the Year.
"Very rewarding," is how Theo Georgoulopoulos describes being named the 2016 Canterbury Local Business Awards Business of the Year winner.
"It was basically a big pat on the back reassuring us that our hard work is being appreciated," he said.
"Ecstatic," is how Konstantina Georgeoulas described being named the 2016 Bankstown Local Business Awards Business of the Year winner.
"It was our first Business of the Year win with our Local Business Awards, so it was completely unexpected after being in business for over 22 years in Bankstown," the Sweet Fantasy Cakes owner said.
The Canterbury Bankstown Local Business Awards are made possible by the ongoing support of major sponsors, Canterbury Bankstown Council, NOVA Employment, Bankstown City Unity Bank and Bankstown Central, and support sponsors, Chester Square, Revesby Village Centre, Revesby Workers' Club and Campsie Centre.
The community is encouraged to nominate and vote for their favourite local businesses by visiting thebusinessawards.com. Alternatively, a copy of the nomination coupon is available in the Bankstown Canterbury Torch.
Everyone who nominates a business will be in the running to win a GoPro Hero5 Black.
Nominations close on July 20, with the winners announced at an awards presentation evening on Wednesday, August 16, at Revesby Workers' Club.
